Colors of Portugal

If you haven't seen the sunlight of Portugal, you haven't enjoyed all of its beauty.

There is something different about the light in Portugal. The fact,  that it is a strip of land by the sea, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, possibly creates a unique combination of temperature and humidity in the air that makes the light gain another dimension. The colors are brighter and it is comforting to feel the heat of the sun envelop us and caress our skin as if its kissing it.

The sand is more golden and the smell, oh the smell! The warm rays of the sun mix with the salt that remains on the skin , after a swim in the sea, producing a fragrance together with the air on the seafront.

In cities like Lisbon, the facades of buildings shine amidst the hills and contrast with the green of the countless trees that adorn the streets, the gardens of the city and with the blue of the river that frames the city. In cities with darker buildings, such as Oporto, the sun creates a nostalgic feeling in the air.

In Portugal, the sun, security, friendly and hospitable people are a constant throughout the country that surprises, considering the diversity of environments.

We can have cities, like Aveiro, known as the Portuguese Venice, where boats fill the estuary with joy, and the colorful houses by the sea that create an environment conducive to leisure, savouring the sun, tasting seafood and fresh fish, and reminding us that the best things in life are free or low-cost, as is the case of food in Portugal.

Away from the hustle and bustle of large cities and tourist centers, the eyes rest and find peace, while contemplating the changing colors of the landscape which is dotted with the majestic cork oak trees. In Alentejo, for example, the plains and rolling hills grow throughout the year, taking on the most diverse colors. From plowed earth to sun-dried blond cerials. From the vibrant green of tree leaves in spring to the red, brown and yellows that transforms it in autumn.

This is one of the most ideal places to rest and enjoy the sun and colors of Portugal.
