The peaceful and hospitable people, wonderful beaches, the mild temperatures, the sun on more than 300 days a year and the fantastic food, at prices much lower than in the rest of Europe, are common places well known by anyone who has already spent a holiday in Portugal or has heard of this country.
However Portugal is much more than that. In the last decade it has become one of the preferred places for international conferences and meetings.
Its more than 900 years of history and its wealth and power in the past – reached the point that in 1494, in the Treaty of Tordesillas, the world was divided in half and everything that was discovered in the half that belonged to Portugal was for this country – was enough to fill textbooks with stories – and sprinkled this nation with monuments, which highlight those built in the style they created called “Manuelino“ and which evokes their maritime epic.
And speaking of the sea, in which other country in Europe do whales jump into its waters and dolphins come to play in front of the capital on the river that bathes it?
From the sea to the colorful landscapes, past the rich fauna and flora and ending up in the rivers, streams and creeks that abound mainly in the north of the country and in some of its islands in the Azores and Madeira, this country has everything with an advantage that being small, normally everything is less than an hour away.
We still haven't talked about walks by the sea, water sports, caving through the mountain ranges, climbing and rafting, nor even about the spectacular golf courses.
